The closure is scheduled to begin Saturday, June 30 at 2 p.m. and conclude Monday, July 2 before 5 a.m. As part of ongoing bridge replacement projects in Westchester County, a portion of the HRP between Exit 6 (Interstate 95) and Exit 15 (Cross County Parkway) is planned to be closed while crews perform construction and demolition activities for the East 3rd Street bridge project, weather permitting.
Signed detours will be in place for northbound and southbound traffic. Northbound traffic on the Parkway will be detoured at the I-95 interchange. Southbound traffic will be diverted to the Cross County Parkway and the Bronx River Parkway for points south.
All on-ramps to the HRP south of the construction site (at the East 3rd Street overpass) will be accessible for southbound traffic.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detours, anticipate delays and plan travel accordingly.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
This month, NYSDOT and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee unveiled a new public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of respecting flagging personnel. This year’s work zone safety campaign, “Flaggers have families too,” is designed to remind motorists that flagging personnel are not attempting to disrupt traffic – they are simply doing their jobs and want to get home safely at the end of each workday.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
